The maiden edition of the International Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research and Uyo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture business engagement forum was held on August 15, 2022 at the UYOCCIMA Secretariat, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.

The forum had the President UYOCCIMA, Mrs Affi Ibanga being represented by the Vice President Mrs Susan Uko-abasi, the executive secretary Mr. Celestine Etouwem, Barr. Joe Ukpong, Chief (Mrs) Chinyere Ekpo, among other Members of UYOCCIMA, Academicians from the University of Uyo, in attendance.

The key note speaker at the event was ICEESR Visiting Diaspora Scholar Professor Raphael Idem, who spoke on the topic “Value addition as a strategy towards engagement of SME’s with International Communities” . He underscored the roles of large enterprises, SMEs, research centres, researchers, industries, foreign commercial partners as well as government in value addition and the need for organizations and individuals to work together for an effective result in value addition and a rapid socio-economic development.

Earlier, the Director, ICEESR UNIUYO Dr. Edu Inam, reiterated the activities and programmes of the centre to strengthen academia industry collaboration to include, co-development, co-design and co-deployement of innovative products and services for sustainable developments. The forum featured interactive and brainstorming session which birthed innovative ideas and new collaboration opportunities aimed at promoting the agricultural and energy sector of Akwa Ibom State and the nation at large.
